Chinese Fishing Boats Captured for Violating Territorial Waters

The maritime police here seized four Chinese fishing boats and their crewmen Friday for illegally fishing in South Korea's territorial waters.

Police said two Chinese boats including a 50-ton vessel intruded the South Korean waters 17 miles southwest of the Hongdo Islands at 8:00 p.m. Friday.

Investigators confiscated 300 kilograms of fish on board, and are questioning the skipper and crew.

The maritime police captured another two Chinese fishing boats earlier Friday that crossed over the territorial waters 14 miles southwest of the Hongdo Islands.

Investigators said they will arrest the skippers of the boats for illegally fishing in and intruding the territorial waters.
