Inter-Korean Ministerial Talks to Proceed

The 16th inter-Korean ministerial meeting will convene as scheduled in Pyongyang from September 13th to 16th.

A Unification Ministry official on Tuesday said the date and venue of the talks have been confirmed, adding Pyongyang has not postponed or canceled the meeting.

He said the two sides are negotiating on the proceedings and participants through officials in Panmunjeom, with the resumption of the inter-Korean meeting of generals on the agenda.

Seoul will also include on the agenda South Korean POWs and abductees.

Coinciding with the resumption of the six-way talks in Beijing, the ministerial meeting is likely to discuss peaceful resolution of the North Korean nuclear issue.

Unification Minister Chung Dong-young and North Korean counterpart Gwon Ho-ung will head their respective delegations to the meeting.
