The Korea National Tourism Organization (KNTO) proposed a joint tourism promotion campaign with North Korea in Berlin Monday.

KNTO President Cho Hong-kyu, who is visiting the 2001 International Tourism Exchange Berlin (ITB), made the suggestion to representatives from the North Korea International Tourist Bureau (KITB).

He said the North Koreans gave him a favorable response to his proposal that the two Koreas open a common booth at next year's ITB event. He also said North Korean counterparts expressed their willingness to cooperate in future international tourism fairs to better introduce the two Korea's tourist sites to the world.

Cho added that he would consider enlarging the Korean booth for the 2002 ITB and offer assistance to North Korea. He also said that the ongoing rapprochement between the two Koreas would help facilitate greater exchange in the tourism field.
