S-N Ministers to Check Past Accords

The 16th inter-Korean ministerial talks opening Tuesday in Pyongyang will check the implementation of past agreements and work to resume a bilateral military generals' meeting.

In the last round of ministerial talks in June last year, the Koreas agreed on 12 issues but have implemented only two of them joint Liberation Day celebrations and video reunions of separated families.

Other pending issues including the resumption of the generals' talks and excavation of the remains of Korean War dead.

Experts said they hope for a synergystic effect as the ministerial meeting overlaps with the six-way nuclear talks that also begins Tuesday in Beijing.
