Bell Lab CEO Kim Jong-hoon says the country is a success story of the global IT industry and that domestic application technology is world-class.

Speaking at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry Tuesday, Kim said the next task is to boost compatibility between users and computers after building a broadband network and technology application depending on conditions.

In his first visit to Seoul since taking over Bell Labs, the corporate research laboratory of Lucent Technology, Kim also urged the resolution of weaknesses in speech interfaces.
