The Korea Peninsula Energy Development Organization is considering alternative uses for the site of the light-water reactors if their construction is shut down.

A KEDO source on Tuesday said Seoul must consider middle to long-term uses of the site in Kumho, North Hamkyeong Province, given that the infrastructure cost hundreds of millions of dollars.

Potential uses could range from the building of chemical or nuclear waste treatment plants to the development of a research complex for renewable energy or tourism facilities.
