Hwang: No Problems in Primate Research

Stem cell pioneer Hwang Woo-suk says his research on primates is not facing obstacles as speculated.

In Washington to accept the scientist of the year award from the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine, he also said the building of his research facilities is going well given the lower cost involved.

Hwang cited progress in a joint research project with U.S. scientists and selection of stem cell research hubs in the United States and Britain.

The academy said it chose Hwang for his breakthrough in the treatment of mental and incurable diseases, including Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, stroke and diabetes.
