Interpol said Wednesday it will send an international "red notice" to its member countries for the arrest of ex-Daewoo Group chairman Kim Woo-choong if South Korea asks for its cooperation in apprehending him.

A spokesman for the Lyons-based Interpol said if they receive official letters from the South Korean National Police Agency (NPA) asking for a joint search for Kim, they would immediately send a "red notice" to the 177-member nations' police agencies instructing them to be on the lookout for him.

The spokesman added however that they have not received any letters from the Seoul police yet.
