Gov't, China to Hold Nuke Committee Talks

The government and China will hold the sixth working-level meeting of their joint nuclear energy development committee Wednesday to Friday in Beijing.

The Science and Technology Ministry on Monday said the two sides will discuss specifics in five areas including nuclear research and development, management of nuclear fuel and waste, safety and use of radiation and radioactive isotopes.

The agenda also includes South Korean corporate participation in building new nuclear power plants in China, exports of domestically-developed radioactive isotopes and 35 other issues.

Twelve South Korean scientists and ten Chinese officials and experts will take part.

On October 12th, the committee will make decisions on the agenda items in a working-level meeting in Shanghai.
