NK Complex to See Faster Construction

The government will expedite the construction of an industrial complex in North Korea's border city of Gaesong after the breakthrough achieved in the six-way nuclear talks in Beijing.

Expecting stronger inter-Korean exchanges, an official on Tuesday said the government will combine the first and second developmental stages of the complex project, with the second-phase construction to start right after the first.

The government is also reviewing a request by the Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business to form a consortium of small firms to handle the second-stage construction that covers a site of 3.3 million square meters.

In addition, the official said the government could raise next year's inter-Korean cooperation fund of 650 billion won.
