Foreigners visiting Seoul will find it a little more convenient to get around by taxi as the Seoul city government plans to expand interpretation service to foreign passengers.
The city plans to have all taxies in Seoul equipped with a device which links passengers with interpreters, who will interpret for the passenger about their destination and the fair in English, Chinese and Japanese.
Seoul City first introduced the "interpretation taxi" last May. There are currently eight thousand taxies that offer the three language interpretation service.
The city government plans to expand the service to all taxies in the city which number more than 70,000 by the end of this year.
Seoul City hopes the taxi interpretation service will enhance the convenience of foreign visitors... with about 15 months to go before the 2002 World Cup.
