The Chicago City Council proclaimed Friday "Kim Dae-jung Day" to honor South Korean President Kim's visit to Chicago.

Mayor Richard Daley hosted a dinner for President Kim Friday evening, and presented Kim with a copy of the proclamation.

Mayor Daley and the 50 Aldermen praised President Kim for his struggle for democracy in Korea and pending peace on the peninsula.

They also lauded the Nobel laureate's continuing efforts for human rights, democracy and peace.
