The country is found to possess some 8,000 key military technologies, with the largest portion of those, some 340, related to surgical military strikes.

In a report to parliament, the state-run Agency for Defense Development, said the military has over 1,270 A-class high-tech weapons technologies subject to export controls.

The number of technologies for surgical strikes, including guided weapons technology, is 81 percent that of the U.S.; ground combat technologies, such as next-generation infantry systems and armored tanks, number 89 percent those of the American inventory.

But the military lags behind the U.S. in reconnaissance, command and control and basic aviation combat technologies, fielding only 60 percent those of their American counterpart.

South Korea also possesses only 54 percent the U.S. number of specialized technologies relating to biological and chemical weapons and electromagnetic wave and high-tech laser devices.
