Young Asian performers to gather in Seoul March 20 to 22

The Korean branch of the International Association of Theatre for Children and Young People will host a meeting of Asian members from March 20 to 22 in Seoul.

In addition to the Korean hosts, young entertainers from 11 countries are expected. They are Brunei, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam.

Discussion topics include "What is the importance of tradition in theater for children and young people in your country?" and "How has tradition been utilized in the theater for children and young people in your country?"

The Asian meeting precedes the Seoul International Children's Performing Arts Festival, scheduled for July 20 to August 5, and the 2002 ASSITEJ Congress and Festival due between July 20 and July 28.

The 2002 ASSITEJ Congress and Festival will feature 20 official productions: five from Asia, five from other parts of the world and 10 from Korea. There will also be 10 fringe productions from all over the world.
