The Foreign Ministry will hold next week a meeting to review the government's position on North Korea’s human rights situation.

A ministry official on Thursday said the U.N.'s Third Committee on social, cultural and humanitarian affairs received a report on the North's human rights, adding a stern resolution written by several nations is likely to go before the General Assembly.

But the official said Seoul will stick to its existing position of considering the special conditions of the North and using diplomacy such as the ongoing six-party talks in handling the issue.
