Airlines to Call for Compensation Pledge from Hasty Opening

Domestic and foreign airlines operating in the country are poised to file a suit against the Incheon International Airport Corp. for compensation for any damage incurred by the full-fledged opening of the new airport late March with insufficient preparations.

The Airlines Operation Committee (AOC), fears that insufficient preparations by the airport authorities are highly likely to trigger problems that will require airlines to refund air fares.

An AOC official said, the insufficient capacity of the baggage handling system will force passengers to wait 30 to 40 minutes and cause some to miss their flights.

The AOC will send an official document to that effect next week to the Incheon airport authorities.
