Unification Minister Chung Dong-young on Monday called China's recent deportation of seven North Korean refugees "very shocking."

A Foreign Ministry official in Seoul said China on September 29th repatriated seven North Korean refugees who sought asylum at an international Korean school in Yentai.

Comprising two men and five women including a family of four, the refugees in late August entered the school grounds during a ceremony around noon, but were taken away hours later by Chinese police.

China ignored repeated requests from Seoul to ensure their safety and send them to South Korea.
