Written: 2001-03-16 00:00:00Updated: 0000-00-00 00:00:00

The Korea Electric Power Corporation... KEPCO is likely to switch fuels at some of its liquefied natural gas-fired power plants from April. The move comes amid growing concerns of supply disruptions from Indonesia.

KEPCO needs three and a half million tons of liquefied natural gas annually to fuel its eight power plants.

The state-run utility would likely switch to low sulphur waxy residue as fuel for its 1,100 megawatt plant in Inchon from April.

A company official said its other plants would likely switch to medium sulphur fuel oil or low sulphur diesel.
