An official of the organizing committee for the WCG said Saturday that amateurs as well as professional gamers will likely be allowed to join the first World Cyber Games (WCG) slated to be held in December,

The official said the World Cyber Games will be held as an open competition for both amateur gamers and professionals. He said it will be difficult to apply the certificate system for professional gamers to just domestic players alone when no other countries have such a system.

The official said that it would be unreasonable to allow only professional gamers to compete in the World Cyber Games as the WCG may not adopt as competition events Starcraft and some other games that are test events for those who want to become professional gamers.

Critics fear that any decision by the WCG organizing committee to allow amateurs to take part in the world's largest game festival will endanger the certificate system.
