Gov't Sends Delegation to U.N. Human Rights Commission Meeting

A Foreign Ministry official said. the government dispatched a delegation Monday to the 57th U.N. Commission on Human Rights in Geneva.

Its ambassador to Geneva Chung Eui-yong led the team. The annual meeting will address infringements on human rights in countries like Myanmar, Cuba, Iraq and Iran and preparations for the world conference on racial discrimination slated to open in South Africa Aug. 31-Sept. 7.

Also at the table will be a death penalty resolution that the European Union is pushing, and issues related to civil and political rights.
