A government source said Monday, more over the counter (OTC) products, such as vitamins and digestive and fever remedies, will be available in supermarkets or convenient stores to give customers greater access and encourage price cuts through competition.

The Ministry of Finance and Economy and the Ministry of Health and Welfare are discussing changes to expand the number of products that can be sold outside of drug stores.

Currently, the Health and Welfare Ministry only permits the sale of hair loss preventing products, contact lens cleanser, antiseptic, PAS sprays and low content vitamins at supermarkets.
