Hyundai Asan Corporation confirmed Wednesday that North Korea since late August has banned the company's chief executive from entering the North.

The Hyundai Group affiliate said Pyongyang imposed the entry ban after it notified Seoul of its sudden decision to halve the daily number of South Korean tourists to Mount Geumgang.

Thus Hyundai Asan CEO Yoon Man-joon will likely miss the upcoming meeting between Hyundai Group Chairwoman Hyun Jung-eun and the vice chairman of the North's Asia-Pacific Peace Committee, Ri Jong-hyuk.

A Hyundai Asan staff said he hopes the meeting will help lift the ban on Yoon.
