Domestic scientists with the potential to win the Nobel Prize will receive long-term financial support from the government.

The Education Ministry on Wednesday said it will launch the project "Star Faculty" to select distinguished candidates who will receive up to 200 million in grants a year for up to ten years.

The ministry will pour five billion won on the project this year in physics, biology and chemistry, and will include math and earth science next year.
