Closed-door Seminar Discusses NK Human Rights

The National Human Rights Commission of Korea held an international seminar on the human rights situation in North Korea on Thursday.

Special rapporteur on North Korea for the U.N.'s Commission on Human Rights Vitit Muntarbhorn, European parliament member Glyn Ford, Belgian ambassador to Seoul Victor Wei and Deputy Director of UNICEF’s Regional Office for East Asia and the Pacific Richard Bridle took part in the closed-door seminar.

The commission did not disclose specifics of the seminar following a closed-door policy on discussions about North Korean human rights.

The human rights agency will announce its position on the North Korean situation by year’s end based on the results of additional international seminars on the matter.
