A top Russian railroad official has said South Korea and Russia will benefit greatly when they are linked by railroad.

The official said the connection of the trans-Siberian railroad with a trans-Korean railroad would cut the transportation period from South Korea to Europe from the current 45 days to 12 days and also save an average of six hundred dollars per container in transportation cost.

The official who led a delegation of railroad officials to North Korea spoke in an interview with the Itar-Tass news agency.
