Hyundai Group Chairwoman Hyun Jung-eun on Thursday will leave for the North Korean border city of Gaesong for talks with the North.

Hyun informed Unification Minister Chung Dong-young on Monday of her two-day trip to the city.

Hyundai seeks to improve its strained relations with the North since the group angered Pyongyang by firing its long-time point man on North Korea, Kim Yoon-kyu.

Chung told Hyun that he wishes her success in her meeting with the vice chairman of the North's Asia-Pacific Peace Committee, Ri Jong-hyok.
