Hyundai, NK Hold Second Meeting

The Hyundai Group head crossed the inter-Korean border Friday for a second meeting with North Korean officials aimed at normalizing operations of the Mt. Geumgang tourism project.

Hyundai Group Chairwoman Hyun Jeong-eun and the vice chairman of the North's Asia-Pacific Peace Committee, Lee Jong-hyuk, are expected to discuss measures to salvage the floundering project. They'll also review proposals to implement tour programs for Mt. Baekdu and the North Korean city of Gaesong.

In the previous meeting Thursday, the two sides reportedly addressed misunderstandings that arose in the process of the Group's ouster of ex-Hyundai Asan president Kim Yoon-gyu, raising hopes that an agreement would be brokered on details such as a timetable for normalizing tourism operations at Mt. Geumgang.
