South and North Korean historians will hold a joint academic seminar in Gaesong Friday to seek ways to register a historic district in the North Korean border city as a world cultural heritage.

Four historians from the South and three from the North will take part in the four-day seminar organized by the South's Cultural Heritage Administration.

The experts are expected to assess the cultural value of the Gaesong historic district and share views on the need to register the area as a world cultural heritage with the U.N. Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
