Stem cell pioneer Hwang Woo-suk will issue a statement Thursday on the controversy over how he obtained human eggs for his research.
A member of Hwang's team on Wednesday said the Seoul National University professor will hold a news conference on his position on ethical questions raised over his experiments.
Hwang will tell when he learned that the eggs used in his experiments were obtained for money and whether he used ova from several of his research staff.
On speculation that two members of his team donated their eggs for research, the team member said final confirmation of the allegation is pending with an ethics deliberation committee of the university.
The controversy erupted last week after U.S. researcher Gerald Schatten ended his 20-month collaboration with Hwang, saying he was misled on the source of 240 human eggs used in Hwang's experiments.
