Written: 2001-03-29 00:00:00Updated: 0000-00-00 00:00:00

A group of South Koreans who were forcibly taken to Sakhalin Island for forced labor during the Japanese colonial period... have returned home.

150 Koreans have spent decades working in mines on the island until Japan's defeat in the second World War.

They will spend the rest of their lives in an apartment complex in Ansan southwest of Seoul.

The return of South Koreans from the island began in the early 1990s.
