Jeju to Send Tangerines, Carrots to N. Korea

The southern resort island of Jeju will ship 10,000 tons of tangerines and carrots to North Korea.

A Jeju-based group to promote inter-Korean civic cooperation on Friday said it agreed on the donation Thursday with a North Korean civic group.

The shipments will begin this month and run through January to the North's port of Nampo, with the first batch to go in mid-December.

Between 1999 and last year, the Jeju government and the group shipped some 33,000 tons of tangerines and 6,000 tons of carrots to the North.
