North Korea's Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland has denied that the North is holding South Korean prisoners of war and abductees.

The North's state-run Korean Central News Agency on Thursday said the committee, in charge of inter-Korean relations, blasted South Korea's main opposition leader Park Geun-hye for attending a rally last month in Seoul on the repatriation of the POWs and abductees.

The committee also said Park's Grand National Party and right-wing groups in South Korea have created unsubstantiated hostility against the North by citing POWs and abductees who do not exist.

In the rally, Park urged Seoul to quickly have the North repatriate South Korean POWs.
