Unification Chief Honors Firms in NK Complex

Unification Minister Chung Dong-young on Friday presented commendation plaques to companies and organizations operating in North Korea's Gaesong Industrial Complex.

In an onsite inspection of the inter-Korean business park, Chung praised workers there for helping to make history in creating a peaceful economy on the Korean Peninsula.

He also urged a faster second-phase development and in the building of a second and third joint industrial cluster elsewhere.

He said Seoul will strive to have products from the complex enter the world market and urged Pyongyang to expedite immigration, customs clearance and communications and set up laws and institutions supporting business activities.

Some 60 delegates including former unification minister Jeong Se-hyun and officials from the Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business accompanied Chung.
