N. Korean Delegates Arrive for Ministerial Talks

The North Korean delegation to the 17th inter-Korean ministerial talks arrived on Jeju Island Tuesday afternoon aboard a Koryo Air flight.

Headed by the North's cabinet councilor Kwon Ho-ung, the 29-member group will stay at Lotte Hotel in Seogwipo and attend a dinner banquet in the evening hosted by Prime Minister Lee Hae-chan.

In the four-day talks, Seoul will seek to set a date for an inter-Korean military meeting and speedy resumption of the six-party nuclear talks.

The government will also urge Pyongyang to allow regular video reunions of separated families and the exchange of correspondence, and will demand the whereabouts of South Korean prisoners of war and abducted fishermen in th North.

Seoul's chief negotiator to the six-way talks Song Min-soon is expected to speak on the North's nuclear program at the Jeju meeting.
