The World Food Program has failed to agree with North Korea on continuing food aid in the poverty-stricken nation.

WFP Secretary General James Morris on Thursday said that in a meeting with high-ranking officials in Pyongyang, the U.N. agency rejected the North's demand for developmental rather than food aid and a drastic cut in staff.

The WFP has warned that an immediate stop to food aid could result in many North Koreans starving to death.
