Poll: 48% Say This Yr's N. Korea Aid Enough

Almost half of the population believes the level of aid to North Korea between January and October this year was adequate.

In a survey conducted by the Advisory Council on Democratic and Peaceful Unification and released Tuesday, 48 percent of 1,000 adults polled nationwide said this year's aid to the North, which translated to 4,500 won a person, was appropriate.

On raising assistance, 26.6 percent were against a hike and 7.2 percent urged a complete stop, as opposed to 18.4 percent who favored an increase.

Fifty-two percent predicted a 50-50 chance of an inter-Korean summit next year.

To realize reunification, respondents also urged the resolution of Pyongyang's nuclear program through the six-party talks and reuniting separated families in the two Koreas and internal reform in the North.
