A Unification Ministry official on Friday said that at last month's inter-Korean ministerial talks, the government urged North Korea to discuss its human rights situation with the United States.

The official said Seoul expressed to Pyongyang the views of the international community on the North's human rights and urged talks with Washington on the matter.

North Korea's chief delegate simply responded by saying he will deliver the message back to Pyongyang.
