A North Korean daily has urged Japan to rectify its past wrongdoings to resolve bilateral issues with Pyongyang.

The Minju Chosun, the official daily of the North's cabinet, carried an editorial Monday after Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Shinzo Abe said official bilateral ties will come only after the North's abduction of Japanese nationals is resolved.

The editorial blasted Abe for distorting the fundamental issues of bilateral relations for his own political purposes.
