North Korea has reiterated that it will snub the six-way talks on its nuclear program if U.S. financial sanctions are not lifted.

The Rodong Shinmun, the official daily of the North's Workers' Party, said in a Tuesday editorial that discussion of Pyongyang's nuclear deterrent at the talks is out of the question if Washington continues to impose sanctions.

The comment is the North's first blast against the United States in the New Year.
