Seoul Covered 77% of Reactor Project

South Korea is found to have covered some 77 percent of the total cost of the terminated light-water reactor project for North Korea.

At a presentation on the project's recent termination Wednesday, the Unification Ministry said that South Korean companies had provided some one-point-two billion out of the more than one-point-five-billion dollars injected into construction works by the Korea Peninsula Energy Development Organization.

This figure is slightly over the initially agreed-upon amount of one-point-one-billion dollars.

The ministry said the Korea Electric Power Corporation projects that around two-hundred-million dollars are required for the project's liquidation, but says the figure could change, depending on participating companies’ demands and adjustments.
