South Korea and China have agreed to take joint actions to tackle the yellow dust phenomenon.

The Korea Meteorological Administration said the agreement came at a meeting between South Korean and Chinese meterological officials held in Beijing earlier this week.

The agreement calls for eleven projects, which include joint research and seminars. The two countries also agreed to hold a meeting of weather experts annually in Seoul and Beijing alternately to exchange information on yellow dust that travels from the Gobi Desert across China as far as to the Korean Peninsula and Japan.

Seoul was shrouded in hazy dust Thursday for 18 days in a row... the longest in 40 years.

Officials advise citizens to refrain from outdoor activities if possible.
