'NK, China to Work for Progress at Nuke Talks'

North Korean leader Kim Jong-il says his country will work with China to make progress at the six-way nuclear talks.

Confirming his visit to China Wednesday, the North's Korea Central News Agency said Kim and Chinese President Hu Jintao held a summit in Beijing and reached a consensus, hinting at a possible agreement on the nuclear issue.

The report said Kim visited China from January 10th through Wednesday.

Hu said the talks are effective and called a peaceful resolution through dialogue the right choice, adding Beijing is willing to work with other parties to resume the meeting.

Kim, meanwhile, reiterated the North's wish for a nuclear-free Korean Peninsula, implement the joint statement of the six-way talks and peacefully resolve the matter through dialogue.

North Korean Premier Pak Pong-ju and First Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang Sok-ju accompanied Kim on his visit.
