A Hong Kong newspaper says North Korean leader Kim Jong-il traveled with many young government officials during his recent trip to China, apparently reflecting his strong will to impose reform and change in the Stalinist North.

The Hong Kong Economic Journal, quoting a diplomatic source, reported that Kim brought the officials along to show them China’s progress.

It predicted that the North is likely to invite South Korean companies if it pursues reform and openness and that the northeastern region of China will also benefit from such a move.
