The government says it will offer another eight-thousand tons of asphalt pitch to North Korea to help establish tourism-based infrastructure at Mt. Baekdu.

Seoul’s Unification Ministry said the asphalt would go towards repair works at the Samjiyeon Airport near the mountain, as well as towards paving roads leading to the top of the mountain.

The government provided the same amount of pitch worth some five-billion won last year, which was used by Pyongyang to pave roads adjacent to the airport and for the reconstruction of airstrips.
