Seoul National University will impose harsh punishment on all seven of its professors involved in the stem cell scandal of Hwang Woo-suk.

The university's president Chung Un-chan on Friday asked the school's disciplinary committee to penalize Hwang and the six co-authors of his theses, citing chapter 78 of the country's civil servant code.

Hwang was also stripped of his professorship at the university's School of Veterinary Medicine.
