The government said Friday that three Korean stores in the U.S. city of Cincinnati, Ohio were reported to be burned or plundered during the ongoing riot. The riot began Thursday after an unarmed 19-year-old black man was shot to death by a white police officer last Saturday.
A foreign ministry official said... the Korean stores were damaged at dawn on Thursday... he added however... no Korean residents have been found harmed.
The official said... most of the approximately 3,000 Korean residents in the city live in the city's outer region. He said... although some Koreans run stores in the downtown area, they have not been targeted by rioters.
The Korean consulate general in Chicago has advised Korean residents to refrain from entering neighborhoods where rioting continues. It added that it will draw up measures to prevent additional damage to property and businesses owned by Koreans.
