A senior official at DaimlerChrysler says it will keep its alliance with South Korea's Hyundai Motor Company.

He denied a report in the trade journal Automotive News that talks to jointly develop small cars and form a truck-making partnership with Hyundai will cease as DaimlerChrysler focuses on its alliance with Mitsubishi.

Rolf Eckrodt, the executive sent in by DaimlerChrysler to fix its Japanese affiliate Mitsubishi Motors said in Tokyo Wednesday that the report is a clear misunderstanding.

DaimlerChrysler has a 10 percent stake in Hyundai.
