Hyundai Asan Corporation will pay 400,000 dollars to North Korea as compensation for its employee's drunk driving accident.

The operator of the Mountain Geumgang tour on Friday said it will also survey the inner Geumgang area with the North in late March or early April and finalize a comprehensive plan on the mountain's development by the end of this month.

In a news conference after returning from the North, company president Yoon Man-joon said the two agreements with the North are meant to invigorate the tour.

A driver for Hyundai Asan killed a North Korean soldier and injured two others late last year while driving drunk.

Yoon said the 400,000 dollars will cover medical treatment, funeral services and other expenses incurred by the accident.
