British actor Roger Moore, famous for his portrayal of Agent double-o-seven in several James Bond movies, has been named Goodwill Ambassador for South Korea.

Moore will promote the final phase of preparations for next year's World Cup, which will be co-hosted by South Korea and Japan.

Moore, currently an ambassador for the U.N. International Children's Emergency Fund, arrived in Seoul Wednesday to drum up South Korea's support in helping needy children around the globe.

In a news conference held in Seoul Friday, Moore said he is grateful that South Korea, once a recipient, has transformed into a donor.

During his four-day visit, Moore met President Kim Dae-jung and National Assembly Speaker Lee Man-sup.
