Ban: NK Must Act on Anti-Laundering Pledge

Foreign Minister Ban Ki-moon has urged North Korea to act on its recent pledge to join global efforts to prevent money laundering.

In a briefing Thursday before the National Assembly's committee for unification, foreign affairs and trade, Ban said the government is worried over the North's illegal activites and urged Pyongyang to dispel the allegations through action.

On the American ambassador's call for North Korea to prove that it can no longer counterfeit dollars, Ban simply responded by saying Seoul and Washington are closely discussing how to prevent the North's financial crimes.
